Why do I always end up hating my job

At the beginning you couldn't wait. Now you check the clock at 3pm and think: another job I hate.

The first weeks, you say yes to everything. You stay ten minutes later. You take the file nobody wants, you say "no problem" before the question is even finished. You want them to think hiring you was a good idea, and it gets me, that wish to do well.

But what you gave at the start quickly becomes what's expected of you. Nobody decided that, you didn't either. A few months in, you're doing the work of two people and you never once agreed to it out loud. The anger can't aim at all those small yeses, so it lands on the job. You hate it, then you leave, and it starts again somewhere else.

Is it a bit like that?

What you gave at the start quickly becomes what everyone expects of you.

I was wondering…

What are you so afraid they'd think of you, the first time you leave on time?
